Beautiful Keukenhof

Kuekenhof is the largest bulb flower park in the world. In fact, 7 million flower bulbs are planted there by hand. There are 100 different varieties of tulips alone. We had heard great things about it and since it was only about 30 minutes from our hotel, it was #1 on my list of things to do in the Netherlands. We were a little early to see most of the flowers (see previous post), but the park was still beautiful and we found plenty of things to keep us busy.

Pete and Ruby at the entrance of the park
They had a Russian theme going on this year.
Ruby and Alex, my Matryoshka dolls.
There was a small little petting zoo that Alex and Henry loved.
Ruby was a little nervous though and stuck close to Pete.

Fortunately no one got wet although we had one close call

Here you can see the start of some of the bulbs

Everyone wanted a turn trying on the shoes

We stopped into this little bakery to sample some poffertjes, which are mini pancakes that they sprinkle powdered sugar on. We also had to sample the Dutch apple pie. Both were delicious!

Pete walked up to the top of the windmill with the kids while I rested below
These pictures are dedicated to our cousins the Jarmans.
If you look closely on the motorcycle it says, "From Russia, with love".
