Alex and Ruby's school district decided to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of its establishment with a lot of fanfare. We were asked last year to "save the date" for a big party, Swiss style.
The last Saturday in September started out with a parade followed by singing. After that we were free to explore rooms decorated according to countries around the world. It was interesting to see the US display. They had a tiny Statue of Liberty, the Las Vegas strip and Hollywood Blvd. They also served a huge international buffet lunch (for a fee of course). It was a lot of fun and we brought home three tired kids.
Each village was assigned a color and then the kids spent time in class working on their costumes. All of the costumes were so clever and I loved the fact that the parents weren't the ones doing all the work.
Our school wore red and the kindergarten classes were ladybugs. Each of the kids painted their own umbrella in class and made their antennas.
Singing about red balloons with broken strings that fly away. Can you find Alex and Ruby?
Releasing the balloons into the sky. It's funny how Switzerland is so "green" but would launch a hundred balloons without giving it a second thought.

So fun and kind of not green or p.c.! Hey, I'm so glad you know about Pace's rainbows - I want one sooo bad right now!
what an adorable parade, and yes I recognized more than a few kids from Duillier! Makes me miss Switzerland and the quaint things like that, that still happen over there.
AWESOME! I love all of it!
That looks like so much fun! I wish I lived there...for a year at least!
