It's hard to believe that the cows have already come down for the winter. What a fast year it has been! Even though Des Alpes was in October, it was actually warmer than it was last year in September. By the time lunch rolled around we were peeling our coats off and it was a beautiful, sunny fall day. This year we met up with lots of friends from church and brought a picnic lunch. The kids had fun, especially Henry who stills loves cows.
In the middle of the field they bring tractors-some new and some really old. After the cows are all down, they fire them up and drive them out in a parade. This picture of Henry reminded me of our days living at the ranch with Alex.
One of my favorite parts of Des Alpes are the dogs pulling these little carts. Pete asked someone and they said these are the same breed of dogs that have been pulling carts for hundreds of years to rescue people.
The cotton candy man gave Ruby a chunk that was about as big as she was. Unfortunately, about an hour and lots of merry-go-round rides later, Ruby was feeling the effects of too much sugar.
Henry had his very first taste of cotton candy. At first we had to persuade him that it was yummy, but once he was on board he couldn't get enough.
I had forgotten how loud the bells were. Beware!
